Radio Read Technology Is Coming to Point Baker Water

What is Radio Read?

Radio Read consists of a transmitter (MXU) that will be installed inside your meter box and will be housed by a circular plastic piece on top of your water meter lid. This transmitter will automatically pull in water use data when we ride through the service area. This will save time and improve accuracy in getting your reading for billing each month.

How does Radio Read benefit me?

Previously, our technicians would have to touch read or manually read your meter- leaving room for human error when manually reading. This technology eliminates the potential for human error when reading your meter for billing.

When will Radio Read be installed?

Our technicians are currently working hard to cover our entire franchise with Radio Read technology. Please be patient as our technicians will have to manually install over 4,000 transmitters (MXU’s).

Is there any action needed from me?

Yes! These transmitters can cost up to $200.00 each. If they are run over by vehicle or lawn mower they will need to be replaced, costing not only the price of parts but also the labor for our technicians to change it out. We ask your help in protecting the meter boxes to avoid any potential damage fees. Our recommendation would be to allow a five (5) foot buffer radius around the meter box to be clear of any shrubs, plants, trees or other structures.

Will I be charged for the installation of the transmitter?

No! You will not be charged for the installation of these transmitters. Additional charges will be applied only IF there are damages after the installation.

*Please note: While these installations are taking place, we may also be conducting a Lead Service Line Inventory on select homes. Please see the document titled “Lead Service Line Inventory Notice,” located under the “Recent News” Tab for more information*
